Q & A: How to Save $20/month in Energy Costs?

Have a programmable stat installed. If you leave for work between 9-5 have it set to either bring the house set point up or down no more than 4 degrees.

Warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter when you’re not home. Anything more then that the amount of run time needed to recover your original set point just burned the fuel or electricity you saved.

Also keep your filter clean. Restricting air flow makes things work harder. When they work harder they draw more power. Your bill goes up. MAINTENANCE. Do it. Yearly. It prolongs your system saving you repair costs and is cheaper to operate.
